The jewels of Palazzo dei Diamanti
Ferrara holds a special place among the Po-valley courts of the Renaissance period. Centuries of Este rule saw the city evolve its original medieval plan, towards the new rational, perspectival criteria that became the reference point from the 15th century.
The city was home to a court with wide-ranging and sophisticated cultural interests, which in the Este family’s patronage of intellectuals, writers, men of the theatre, and artists of great importance.
Pinacoteca Nazionale of Ferrara offers visitors a comprehensive overview of the paintings produced in the city from the 13th to the 18th century, testifying to this great period of Ferrarese art, making it a must-see attraction for those visiting Ferrara.
The Pinacoteca Nazionale
The Pinacoteca Nazionale of Ferrara is located on the piano nobile of the Palazzo dei Diamanti, a masterpiece of Renaissance architecture by Biagio Rossetti (1447 ca. – 1516), in rooms featuring the magnificent Salone d’Onore and the sixteenth-century apartments of Virginia de’ Medici. Si comunica che quest’Istituto s’impegna ad offrire al pubblico un orario di visita quanto più esteso possibile, nel rispetto dei criteri per l’apertura al pubblico, la vigilanza e la sicurezza dei musei e dei luoghi della cultura statali previsti dal D.M. del 30 giugno 2016, in attesa che vengano espletate le previste procedure concorsuali finalizzate al superamento delle attuali carenze organiche e al conseguente incremento del personale in servizio.
